Ames Family Hospice House Reaches LEED Gold Certification
The Ames Family Hospice House (AFHH) project in Westlake, Ohio recently garnered LEED GOLD certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Many sustainable design and construction efforts were employed and facilitated by Hospice of the Western Reserve, Vocon Partners (architect) and Donley’s, Inc. (construction manager). The prestigious designation was celebrated on December 10th, 2013 in the Great Room of the new facility. Myriad noteworthy features and processes contributed towards achieving LEED GOLD at the AFHH project, including the following highlights: storm water mitigation infrastructure for runoff, bicycle storage, 94% construction waste diversion/recycling, use of H2O conserving plumbing fixtures, energy efficient electrical systems and equipment, purchasing of green energy (wind, solar, biomass,) use of regionally sourced materials, use of recycled materials and indoor air quality testing. The Ames Family Hospice House began accepting patients in June, 2012 and was officially awarded LEED GOLD status in May, 2013.
